Our friends at the Kennedy Center

Just when you thought classical music couldn't be more fun, along come the Golden Rules (see the Playbill) of performance etiquette from our friends at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Item 7 is the best example of great editing to obtain the best effect: THOU SHALT NOT TALK, or hum, or sing along, or beat time with a body part. Now that covers everything that could be used to beat time, I guess! It's not clear if the enforcement is imminent.

And as you depart from the parking lot, one final rule, not written in the handout, but signed prominently in the garage: "No Drilling in the ceiling."  We asked the attendant if we could just make one little hole?  She said, "No.  Read the sign."
